Beginning ingestion into template
I started with the Harris translation. This was already in PDF form and was mostly unadorned, so it was a simple copy and paste job.
The flow was simple, though repetitious bordering on tedious.
- Copy a page of text
- Paste into text frame
- Re-route overflow into next page frame
- Repeat
Since the source book has five…chapters?…scrolls? – each one is one of the elements, and is kind of it’s own document, spanning from a few pages (Book of Void) to a few dozen pages (Book of Water, Fire, each). Because of that division, I realized I should probably start a new text flow with each chapter.
I needed to add a few additional styles. There were also some text artifacts (page numbers, footnote / endnote superscripts) that needed to be removed, and whitespace to be cleaned up.
The end result was around 70 or 80 pages in the document. Not too bad.
