Tracking Progress
I have a lot of hobbies and activities. Things that require creative output and effort. I pretty much always have. Honestly, it’s kind of a problem, if I’m being honest. I’ve been trying to do less.
That said, I figure if I’m going to be doing a lot of stuff, I really need a place where I can chronicle my journeys so at least I have something to show for it. It also forces me to reflect on what I’ve done, giving me a brief respite to consider what I’ve learned along the way.
Plus, it’s just satisfying to actually finish something, y’know?
Works in progress
I am calling each individual creative effort a “work”. Defining when something I do qualifies as a “work” is actually challenge in and of itself, I’ve found.
All works in progress(*) will be featured on the homepage. The last 5 progress updates of ANY works will be at the bottom of that page as well.
Each work will have a summary page defining the scope of work and when I’m considering it “done”. The individual pages will a list of progress update posts related to that work.
(* I’m allowing myself the freedom to “shelve” a project if I feel like I need a hiatus from it. The project updates will still show up in the full chronicle of work, but the work itself will not show up in the in-progress list nor the completed works list.)
Completed works
Works that have been finished, per the scoping, are automatically moved to the completed works page. This page only features a gallery of works that are finished, linking to each individual works page, as above.
Final thoughts
Keeping up with all of this is a challenge – any time spent writing progress updates is not being spent on works. I reserve the right to have long lapses between updates. #sorrynotsorry
