Overview
This series encompasses work that are produced via the method below (projecting stillframe and sketching the outline, then coloring it with watercolor, pastels, or other media. Because the structure of the image is implicitly handled through the projection-tracing, the effort emphasis will be on the execution and exploration of the piece in its coloring.
Completion is defined as “the works are done, framed, and hangable on the wall.”
Background
While helping a friend move some stuff, I was gifted several pieces of thick-stock poster board in good condition. On another occasion, I was given a small, used, digital projector. In planning for a hosted arts-and-crafts afternoon with some friends, I had this idea to do a project we did when I had highschool art: use a projector to sketch / trace the outline of an image, and then paint the image.
I’ve already prepared three images so far, and I have a few pieces of posterboard remaining.
The Work
I am not requiring that this involve commerce because that’s not what I want to drive my creative process, and that would be problematic anyways since these are not wholly original images. Getting them to the state where they feel “complete” is enough.
