Publish my Robot card game

In progress

Overview

Using the already-designed card game (working title “Robot Factory”), publish this game and bring it to market.

Background

In 2011, I created a casual card game with the working title “Robot Factory”, and gave it to my son for Xmas that year. Since then, I have revised it a few more times, playtested it for hundreds of hours at this point, and it is generally well-received by players a light, fun, and engaging game that is playable in 10-15 mins.

It doen’t try to be anything more than it is, and is comparable to games like Unstable Unicorns or even Uno.

I have previously considered self-publishing this, but it needs a little bit more work to complete it (more professional illustration / layout), and without any distribution agreements, I would be limited to smaller and independently owned game stores. Not an ignoble effort, but I believe a game like this could appeal to a wider audience, more broadly.

This year, an opportunity has come up to actually completely this game, publish it for real and get it sold in stores.

The Work

The game is complete already, so this effort is wholly on the development of its market presence. I will be working with Stillfleet Studio, who published my book last year, and with whom I have an existing professional relationship.

We are going to re-theme the game to fit better within the Stillfleet brand, have the art and layout contracted out or fulfilled in-house. Then we will do an order to have the cards printed and packaged, and then sell them in stores.
